More than an idea |

iTurnedGreen is an idea that began while producing a documentary on climate change solutions. I wanted to show that everyday people are making sustainable choices for the fate of our civilization, all while making a positive difference in their own lives.
Sure, a lot of what has to happen to prevent further climate change needs to be on a national and global scale. Things like cap-and-trade schemes, renewable energy policy, CAFE standards and the like. There are a lot of people working on this.
But things aren't happening fast enough. This is where you come in.
You may not be a politician, a corporate CEO or head of state. A huge opportunity exists to enact climate change solutions where you live. It’s how and what we consume, how we get around, how we interact with our elected representatives, and how we use energy on a day-to-day basis that has to move in a big way to help our planet down the path towards sustainability.
This isn't about politics - it's about the science. I’ve spoken with the scientists and environmental NGO’s. With environmental leaders, corporate CEO's and activists. I’ve seen the impacts of climate change in Africa, the arctic and in the United States. It’s real. It’s happening way faster than scientists originally predicted. In the last 24 hours, runoff from the Greenland ice sheet alone dumped enough water to cover the state of Texas 9 feet deep. That's every 24 hours. We have to act now.
I hope that the episodes on iTurnedGreen will empower you to know that the solutions to climate change start with each of us, and that as citizens of this planet, each of us has a responsibility to act now.
